Microsoft is an American international corporation dealing with computer technology founded by Bill Gates and Paul Allen in 1975. Corporation has approximately 80,000 employees in 85 countries, producing a wide range of software such as operating systems, application programs, databases, development tools and much more.

Microsoft Windows is an operating system for personal computers and servers. The first version of this system was released back in 1985.

Licensing

Microsoft offers several ways for licensing, depending on whether you are buying a new computer, legalizing old one, you want to benefit from volume licensing program or you want to sign a contract with Microsoft.

GGK (legalization)

GGK (Get Genuine Kit) helps users to install Windows OS on an existing computer that has no pre-installed operating system or for which they do not have a legal operating system.

OEM

OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) is a software that comes pre-installed on a new computer and is intended solely for the purchase of the new computers. OEM license is linked to the computer on which is installed and it can not be transferred to another computer.

FPP/Retail

FPP (Full Packaged Product) refers to a box with product that can be purchased separately from the computer.

OLP

OLP (Open License Program) is a program to which all users who purchase a minimum of 5 of any kind and in any combination licenses can subscribe. By purchasing licenses, customer signs a contract with Microsoft. Over a period of two years it is possible to complete the purchase of additional user licenses at the same level of prices at which the agreement was signed and the first order was submitted. Licenses remain in permanent property of the customer. The program allows the user to check the status of their orders over the internet and download their software and licenses.

OVS

OVS (Open Value Subscription) is a corporate contract and it implies the inclusion of all the computers in your company, except for computers that are not running Microsoft programs (accounting, etc.). The contract is signed for 3 years, and payment is made on an annual basis. After the expiration of a period of 3 years, the customer renews the contract for the next period or purchases licenses.

During the contract period the user can use the latest version of the software for which he has subscription. Total number of computers can be changed (minimum is 5 computers), and customer’s obligation is to report the number of available computers prior to payment of the annual installment.

A prerequisite for the OVS is that you already have a legal Pro operating system on all of your computers.
